A stream in Dumfries and Galloway, the Bodesbeck Burn rises between Bodesbeck Law and White Shank. It flows down to join the Moffat Water at Bodesbeck Farm opposite Capplegill. James Hogg, the Ettrick Shepherd in his 'The Brownie of Bodesbeck' tells how the legendary brownies laboured to make this farm the best in the district until the farmer one night left out for them an inedible mess of bread and milk.
