Glas Uig

(Clas Uig)

A sheltered cove on the SE coast of Islay in the Inner Hebrides, Glas Uig (occasionally Clas Uig) is located a half-mile (0.8 km) north northwest of Ardmore Point and ¾ mile (1.2 km) east of Kintour. There are the remains of an old jetty on its southern shore, and there is some evidence that German U-boat commanders hid their boats in this isolated cove during both the First and Second World Wars, culling sheep to replenish their stores.
