Kintra River

A short watercourse in the S of Islay, Argyll and Bute, the Kintra River forms at the junction of the Leorin River and the Abhainn Airigh Bhaile-chaluim, 2¾ miles (4.5 km) northwest of Port Ellen. It follows a managed course, receiving drains from peat-bogs and agricultural fields before crossing the machair and Machrie Strand, to the southwest of the Machrie Hotel, before falling into the southern end of Laggan Bay. It extends to 1⅓ miles (2.1 km).
