A little lochan situated within plantation forest in NW Dumfries and Galloway, Blanyvaird Loch lies just a quarter-mile (0.5 km) south of the border with South Ayrshire and a half-mile (1 km) east of Loch Dornal. It casts off a stream to the north which joins the Carrick Burn.
