A little loch on the edge of a clearing in the Galloway Forest (NW Dumfries and Galloway), Garwachie Loch is located just to the south of the B7027 road, 5 miles (8 km) west northwest of Newton Stewart. Extending to 3.8 ha (9.4 acres), the loch supports a recreational course fishery, for species including perch, pike, roach, rudd and tench, which is managed by the Forest Commission. Older editions of Ordnance Survey maps use the name Garwachie Lochs for this loch and the nearby Spectacle Loch.
