Served by the waters of the Big Windgate Burn, the Craigs Grain and the Stow Gill, Peden Burn flows east then south. It flows through a small loch before emptying into the Potrail Water at Peden, a settlement located 3 miles (5 km) south of Elvanfoot, South Lanarkshire.
