Priorwood Garden, Melrose

A garden in Melrose in the Scottish Borders, Priorwood is a specialist centre for the craft of dried flower arranging. Once the property of the Curle family, owners of Priorwood House which is now the Melrose Youth Hostel, Priorwood Garden was purchased by the National Trust for Scotland in 1974. Born into a legal family, Dr. James Curle (1862 - 1944) and Alexander Ormiston Curle (1866 - 1955) were notable as archaeologists - James having discovered and led the excavation of the nearby Trimontium Fort.
