Barrel of Butter

A small rock just appearing above the surface of the water of Scapa Flow in the Orkney Isles, the Barrel of Butter is located 2 miles (3 km) south southeast of Orphir. It is said to derive its name from the payment of an annual rent in butter paid to the local laird in return for permission to kill seals on the rock.
