An inlet of the Argyll and Bute coastline, Loch Melfort lies directly opposite the island of Luing and 9 miles (15 km) southwest of Oban. The settlements of Melfort and Kilmelford lie on the loch. On the southwestern shore of the loch lies Arduaine Garden.
