Loch Long and Arrochar

A sea loch to the east of the Cowal peninsula in west central Scotland, Loch Long extends 17 miles (27 km) south from Arrochar to meet the Firth of Clyde. Loch Goil forms an arm on its western side and on its eastern shore at Coulport is the Royal Naval Armaments Depot which stores the trident nuclear missiles for submarines based at Faslane on the Gare Loch, which lies to the east beyond the Rosneath Peninsula.
