Kames Bay lies between the settlements of Port Bannatyne and Ardmaleish on the eastern coast of the island of Bute, Argyll and Bute. The town of Rothesay lies 2 miles (3 km) to the south while across the Kyles of Bute lies Ardyne Point. Admiralty Floating Docks moored here during World War II provided a base for submarines.
