A dramatic wide sandy bay on the remote northwest coast of Sutherland, Sandwood Bay lies 6 miles (10 km) southwest of Cape Wrath. The bay is noted for its dune systems and forms part of a Special Area of Conservation. Sandwood Loch to the southeast drains into the bay which in part lies within the Sandwood Estate, a reserve owned by the John Muir Trust.
