Dury Voe

An important inlet on the east coast of the Shetland Mainland, Dury Voe separates the districts of Nesting and Lunnasting 13 miles (21 km) north of Lerwick. The island of Whalsay lies across its mouth, which opens between Stava Ness and Dragon Ness. The ferry leaves from Laxo Terminal providing a service to Symbister on the island. The small settlements of Dury, Laxfirth, Billister, Skelberry and Laxo lie around the shores of Dury Voe and there are several subsidiary inlets within it; namely Laxo Voe, Loura Voe, the Bight of Bellister and the Bight of Stavaness.
