The northernmost of the significant sea lochs which penetrate the east coast of the island of South Uist in the Outer Hebrides, Loch Carnan lies between Bagh nam Faoileann to the north and Loch Skiport to the south. It is almost completely blocked by islands, islets and rocks, the largest of which are Gasay, Diray and Orasay. The settlement of Lochcarnan lies at its head.
