Loch Resort

(Loch Reasort)

A sea loch on the west coast of the 'long island' of the Outer Hebrides, Loch Resort forms part of the boundary between Lewis and Harris, pressing inland for 5½ miles (9 km). Located between rocky hills covered carpeted heather moorland, Loch Resort is isolated, the nearest road terminating at the few houses which form the settlement of Hushinish, 2½ miles (4 km) south of its entrance. The island of Scarp lies opposite this entrance. The loch provides a safe anchorage for small vessels.
