(Birrenswark)

A landmark of lower Annandale in Dumfries and Galloway, Burnswark Hill rises to 287m (941 feet), 3 miles (5 km) north of Ecclefechan and 4 miles (6.5 km) southeast of Lockerbie. On its twin summits are the remains of an Iron-Age fort dating from 600 BC, together with the impressive ramparts of later 2nd-century AD Roman forts immediately to the north and south.
