Jura House

(Ardfin Estate)

Jura House lies at the centre of the Ardfin Estate, on the island of Jura, Argyll and Bute. Located 3 miles (5 km) southwest of Craighouse, Jura House was built by the Campbell family in the mid 1850s and is home to a wonderful garden which houses collections of Australian and New Zealand plant life as well as fruits and vegetables, all of which are grown organically. There are paths through the garden which are complemented by cliff-top walks. The estate occupies much of the south of the island, extending to 4700 ha (11,600 acres) and including 10 miles (16 km) of coastline and seven islands. Its income comes from agriculture, tourism and sport.

The house and associated farm buildings were redeveloped to form the exclusive accommodation for a golf resort by retired Australian hedge-fund manager Greg Coffey. He bought the estate for £3.5 million in 2010 and is estimated to have spent £20 million on the project.
