A long and narrow little island in North Knapdale, Argyll and Bute, Eilean nan Coinean is located 2 miles (3 km) west southwest of Tayvallich. It extends to 6 ha (14.9 acres) and rises to 28m (92 feet). There is another Eilean nan Coinean situated 7½ miles (12 km) to the north northeast.
