Tarbat Ness

A headland on the eastern coastline of the Ross and Cromarty district of Highland Council Area, Tarbat Ness lies on the southern shore of the entrance to the Dornoch Firth, 10 miles (16 km) northeast of Tain and north of the Cromarty Firth. Mostly comprised of farmland, Tarbat Ness is significant for its seabirds and also for its geology, with Jurassic outliers outcropping amongst Old Red Sandstone on the foreshore.
