Calback Ness

A headland on the N coast of the Shetland Mainland, Calback Ness extends into Yell Sound on the east side of the entrance to Sullom Voe. The Sullom Voe Oil Terminal lies immediately to the south. The remains of coastal defences from World War II can be seen here, built to protect the flying boats of RAF Sullom Voe from enemy attack.
