A headland at the end of a narrow peninsula which lies between the Voe of Scatsta and Garths Voe within Sullom Voe on the N coast of the Shetland Mainland, Sella Ness is located a half-mile (1 km) west northwest of Graven and a similar distance south of the Sullom Voe Oil Terminal. The Sullom Voe Harbour Authority is based here, managing the oil tankers docking at the immense deep-water jetties associated with the terminal and also operating more modest piers on the east side of Sella Ness.
