The higher and northwesterly of two passes which form the Slochd in SE Highland, Slochd Mor is located 3 miles (5 km) southeast of Tomatin. The A9 road and Perth-Inverness railway are constrained in a narrow gorge the floor of which rises to 405m (1328 feet).
