The Minch


(North Minch)

A wide body of water off the northwest coast of Scotland, The Minch or North Minch lies between the mainland and the northern end of the Outer Hebrides and varies between 22 and 45 miles (35 and 72 km) in width. The Little Minch to the southwest separates the island of Skye in the Inner Hebrides from the middle part of the Outer Hebrides and is 14 - 20 miles (22.5 - 32 km) wide.
