A reservoir lying 2 miles (3 km) east of Balerno and 6 miles (9 km) southwest of Edinburgh City Centre, Clubbiedean Reservoir is one of a network of reservoirs that supply that city with water. Opened in 1850, it is impounded earth embankment dam and covers an area of 6.6 ha (16 acres). It is operated by Scottish Water. To the east of the reservoir lies Bonaly Country Park and Bonaly Reservoir.
