The name derives from the Gaelic 'Beinn Shith' or 'fairy mountain' and the higher of the two summits is known as Síthean Liath nam Peirthirean. A sizeable corrie faces southeast between the two summits, within which is situated Loch a' Ghorm-choire. Ben Hee is classified as a Corbett.
