Caird Park

Located to the north of Dundee city centre, Caird Park is one of Scotland's largest areas of urban parkland occupying 106 ha / 262 acres. It includes two golf courses (9- and 18-hole courses) and an athletics track. Mains Castle is located in the park. The park formed the estate of Mains Castle, at that time a ruin, bought in 1913 by jute manufacturer and generous benefactor Sir James Key Caird (1837 - 1916). He subsequently gave the land to Dundee Corporation to become a park to benefit the citizens of Dundee.
