Gladsmuir Hills

A small range of rolling summits located on the border of West Lothian and South Lanarkshire, the Gladsmuir Hills lie 2 miles (3 km) to the north of Forth and 2½ miles (4 km) south of Fauldhouse. They rise to 356m (1167 feet) at Leven Seat. Much of the area is now cloaked in plantation forest, this is a post-industrial landscape still peppered with shafts, quarries and mines associated with the extraction of coal and iron-stone which was processed at the Wilsontown Ironworks, built 2 miles (3 km) to the southeast in the 19th century.
