Glasgow Golf Course (Killermont)

A fine parkland golf course located on the right bank of the River Kelvin, Killermont lies 1¼ miles (2 km) southeast of Bearsden and 1½ miles (2.5 km) north of Maryhill. Laid out by Old Tom Morris (1821 - 1908), this is the principal course for the elite Glasgow Golf Club. It was the last 18-hole course Morris was to design and was opened by the Lord Provost of Glasgow on 21st May 1904. It was extended to 5977 yards (5465m) by James Braid in 1924 and modernised 2002-05, with significant modifications to its bunkers, by David Thomas.

Founded in 1787, the Glasgow Golf Club was the first in the west of Scotland and retains its traditions, including having no women members. The club played initially on Glasgow Green. By 1870, it had moved to Queen's Park and just four years later the club moved again to Alexandra Park.

The club has another course on the Ayrshire coast at Gailes.
