High Street

Running southwest to northeast, the High Street in Elgin was the principal route to the castle, a building that occupied a site on Lady Hill, where today the Duke of Gordon's monument lies. The road widens at the Great Cross to accommodate St Giles' Church and the town fountain, and also on this street lies the Italianate style Elgin Museum.
