A wooded island in Loch Lomond, Inchconnachan lies to the east of Inchtavannach and to the north of Inchmoan, within the Argyll and Bute section of the loch. The island rises to 50m (164 feet) and has a boathouse and a dilapidated residence towards its northern end. It is owned by the Luss Estates. Peculiarly, alongside native species such as Capercaillie (Tetrao urogallus), the island supports a 'mob' of wild Red-necked Wallaby (Macropus rufogriseus) which were introduced by Fiona Colquhoun Gore, Lady Arran (1918 - 2013), in the 1940s. Controversy struck in 2022, when the wallaby colony were threatened with removal after the island was acquired by broadcaster Kirsty Young (b. 1968) and her billionaire husband. The couple had bought the island for £1.6 million, with plans to replace the house and restore native species.
