Edinburgh Old Town Weaving Centre

The westernmost section of Edinburgh's Royal Mile, which rises steeply over the short distance between the Lawnmarket to the Castle Esplanade. Notable buildings on Castlehill include the Hub Festival Centre (previously St. John's Highland Tolbooth Church, by Augustus Pugin), the former Ragged School (set up in 1850 by reformer Thomas Guthrie) and the old Castlehill reservoir (now the Tartan Weaving Mill and Exhibition). The Outlook Tower and Ramsay Garden, which lies immediately to the north, are both associated with visionary town planner Professor Sir Patrick Geddes (1854 - 1932).
