Comyn's Road

(Rathad nan Cuimeinach, Rathad nan Caoirneach)

An ancient roadway which links the district of Atholl in N Perth & Kinross to Badenoch in Highland, Comyn's Road (Gael: Rathad nan Cuimeinach, also Rathad nan Caoirneach) dates from Mediaeval times and continued in use until the 17th C., when a shorter route was preferred. The full route extends for 27 miles (43 km) from Blair Atholl to Kingussie, although the old road is really only evident today in the upland areas between the Dalnamein Forest and Gaick Forest.
