Point of Scattland

The Point of Scattland lies within Bressay Sound on the east coast of Shetland. It is situated a quarter-mile (0.5 km) northeast of Gremista, within the modern Lerwick Harbour and is industrialised as part of the harbour complex, with the massive Shetland Catch fish-processing plant located here. A coastal battery was installed here during World War II but is now lost under oil-related developments which extend to the north. The point is erroneously recorded on early Ordnance Survey maps as the Point of Scotland.
