Coalhill Reservoir

One of a group of reservoirs known as the Barrhead dams, which are located between Barrhead and Newton Mearns in East Renfrewshire, Coalhill Reservoir is an annexe to the larger Balgray Reservoir, from which it is separated by a minor road connecting these settlements. Unnamed on the Ordnance Survey map, it is retained by an earth embankment dam and extends to 4.2 ha (10.4 acres). Constructed by the Gorbals Gravitational Waterworks for the supply of drinking-water, it is now operated by Scottish Water.
