Craigluscar East Reservoir

A upper of two adjacent reservoirs on the southeastern slopes of Craigluscar Hill in W Fife, Craigluscar East Reservoir is located 1½ miles (2.4 km) northeast of Gowkhall and 2½ miles (4 km) northwest of Dunfermline. Opened in 1850 and retained by an earth embankment dam, it was the work of the Dunfermline Water Company to supply drinking-water to the town. Today, both reservoirs are redundant, but remain in use by Dunfermline Artisan Angling Club as a trout fishery. They have a combined area of 10.6 ha (26 acres).
