An estuary and nature reserve of eastern Sutherland (Highland), lying between Skelbo and Littleferry, some 2½ miles (4 km) southwest of Golspie. It is the outfall of the River Fleet and is terminated in the northwest by a causeway carrying the main A9 Trunk Road north. The tidal basin extends to over 630 ha (1556 acres) and is an important habitat for birds, plants and mammals. The Loch Fleet National Nature Reserve was established in 1998.
