Colintraive Heritage Centre

Colintraive Heritage Centre occupies an unremarkable former workshop and stable opposite the Village Hall, a quarter-mile (0.4 km) east of the ferry terminal in Colintraive (Argyll and Bute). Opened in 2009 by local Member of Parliament and then Minister of Culture, Mike Russell (b. 1953), the Centre describes the social and economic history of the area through objects and interpretation panels, which include photographs, maps, drawings and letters. Industries such as crofting, farming, forestry and fishing contrast with the arrival of tourists on the passenger steamers travelling 'doon the watter' from Glasgow. There are recreations of a domestic situation and a school-room. Information is provided to assist visitors with their own family history.
