Glen Dam Upper Reservoir

(Upper Glen Dam)

A tiny reservoir retained by an earth embankment dam on the course of the Glen Burn in Renfrewshire, Glen Dam Upper Reservoir (or Upper Glen Dam) is located 2 miles (3 km) south of the centre of Paisley and 4½ miles (7 km) northwest of Newton Mearns (East Renfrewshire). It was built to supply the Glenfield Scouring Works but is now operated by Scottish Water for the supply of drinking-water. Glen Dam Lower Reservoir lies a short distance to the east northeast while the much larger Glenburn Reservoir lies further up the hill, a quarter-mile (0.5 km) to the south southwest.
