Glenmoriston Power Station

An underground power station lying 90m (295 feet) beneath the Dundreggan dam which impounds the Dundreggan Reservoir, part of the Garry-Moriston Hydro-Electric Power Scheme, the Glenmoriston Power Station is located 4 miles (6.5 km) west of Invermoriston. With a capacity of 36 MW, the largest in the scheme. It began generating in 1957, one of the first underground stations to be commissioned by the North of Scotland Hydro Electric Board. Water is discharged into the River Moriston. The turbines and turbine hall were fully refurbished in 1999. The station is now operated by Scottish & Southern Energy Plc.
