A substantial Norwegian-style cabin on the Glen Tanar Estate in Deeside, Birkelunn is located within woodland at Headinch 2½ miles (4 km) east northeast of Ballater. The property was built in 1938 for Lady Glentanar, constructed of wooden planking on a rubble base and featuring shutters and a natural grass roof.
