Northside Wood Nature Reserve

Comprising much of a strip of woodland which divides the central Seafar district of Cumbernauld from the M80 motorway in North Lanarkshire, Northside Wood is located a quarter-mile (0.5 km) southwest of Cumbernauld Village and extends southwest for a mile (1.5 km). It is noted for its bluebells and other woodland flowers, with a path winding through the woodland. Roe deer and sparrow hawks also makes this area their home. Northside Wood is part of the Cumbernauld Living Landscapes project, which aims to enhance, restore and reconnect green areas of the town in partnership with the community and led by the Scottish Wildlife Trust (which manages the reserve), North Lanarkshire Council and Forestry and Land Scotland.
