Board Burn

(Broad Burn)

A stream which flows from field drains and ponds in Orchardton Woods, a western industrial district of Cumbernauld in North Lanarkshire, the Board Burn flows northeast towards Smithstone, where it receives the Moss Water and turns north, passing Easter Board and forming the boundary with East Dunbartonshire. It then turns sharply west and flowing into that council area and on through Twechar, under the Forth & Clyde Canal and the course of the Antonine Wall, to fall into the River Kelvin, having completed a course of 3¾ miles (6 km). The northern section of the Board Burn is erroneously recorded in the Ordnance Survey Explorer map (1:25,000) as the Broad Burn.
