Clare Hill

A hogback in The Machars of Galloway, Clare Hill rises to just beyond 60m (196 feet), a half-mile (0.8 km) northeast of Kirkcowan. This is one of a number of drumlins in this area and is aligned NNE-SSW indicating the direction of flow of an ancient ice sheet which once covered this area. There is a small patch of woodland on the summit, while the Barhoise Burn curves around the hill to the west.
