Barsoles

An well-defined drumlin forming part of an extensive drumlin field in The Machars of Dumfries & Galloway, Barsoles rises to 109m (357 feet) 3½ miles (5.5 km) southwest of Kirkcowan. Deposited beneath an ancient ice sheet, its principal axis aligned SSW-NNE indicating the direction of flow. A plantation of coniferous woodland separates this from another drumlin, Darnagie Hill, to the west.
