Dernafranie Hill

An elongated whaleback in The Machars of Dumfries and Galloway, Dernafranie Hill rises to just above 95m (311 feet) a quarter-mile (0.4 km) southeast of Barsoles and 3½ miles (5.5 km) west of Kirkcowan. This is part of an extensive drumlin field, with its principal axis aligned NNE-SSW indicating the direction of glacial flow. A plantation forest wraps around the southeastern slopes of the hill.
