A well-defined drumlin in The Machars of Dumfries and Galloway, West Knowe rises to 67m (219 feet) within the scattered settlement of Torhousemuir, 3 miles (5 km) west northwest of Wigtown. This hillock is not named on modern Ordnance Survey maps and is part of an extensive drumlin field, with its principal axis aligned N-S indicating the direction of ice flow of an ancient glacier.
