Barrachan Hill

An elongated hogback in The Machars of Galloway, Knocknahay rises to just above 100m (328 feet) a half-mile (0.8 km) north of Barrachan and 2½ miles (4 km) west of Whauphill. This is one of a number of drumlins in this area, aligned NNE-SSW suggesting the direction of flow of an ancient ice sheet which once covered this area.
