Princess Louise's Cairn

One of a collection of grand commemorative cairns within the policies of Balmoral Castle in Aberdeenshire, Prince Louise's Cairn is located on the northeastern slopes of Craig Gowan, a half-mile (0.8 km) south of the Castle. The cairn was built to celebrate the marriage of Princess Louise (1848 - 1939) to John Campbell, Marquess of Lorne and later 9th Duke of Argyll (1845 - 1914), on the 21st March 1871. Louise was Queen Victoria's fourth daughter.
