Prince Leopold's Cairn

One of a fine collection of grand commemorative cairns within the policies of Balmoral Castle in Aberdeenshire, Prince Leopold's Cairn is located on the northern slopes of Craig Gowan, a quarter-mile (0.5 km) south of the Castle. The cairn was built to celebrate the marriage of Prince Leopold, Duke of Albany, to Princess Helena of Waldeck on the 27th April 1882. Leopold was Queen Victoria's fourth son.
