Balcray Hill

(Hill Top)

An elongated hogback in The Machars of Galloway, Balcray Hill rises to 59m (193 feet) at Hill Top, 1¼ miles (2 km) south of Whithorn, although its second summit at Hillend is actually a metre (3 feet) higher. This is one of a number of drumlins hereabouts, aligned NE-SW suggesting the direction of flow of an ancient ice sheet which once covered this area.
